Jean Drummond
Photographer, Nature Explorer, Healer
I am a nature-lover and a photographer with a passion for capturing images of nature’s details and designs that evoke feelings of calm, curiosity and inspiration. I strive for my photographs to offer a unique view of nature by focusing on the intimate details that can only be seen by slowing down.
My goal is to convey deep feelings and emotions that take you to a peaceful place and spark a desire to get outdoors and reconnect with nature, and ultimately, with yourself. For being in nature —or even visually experiencing it through art— engages our senses, inspires awe and wonder, and helps heal us.
My love for nature and photography started at an early age. Growing up in Southern California, I spent my childhood days climbing trees, hiking and camping which helped develop my powerful connection to nature. Taking up photography in high school, I went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Photojournalism and worked in magazine editorial and design, marketing and advertising.
While climbing the corporate ladder, I was always stressed out and sick from the constant deadline pressures. I eventually found help from acupuncture and my health was changed so dramatically that I wanted to help others deal with stress like it had helped me. So I quit the corporate life and obtained a Masters in Oriental Medicine and became an acupuncturist and healer. This is where my love of nature, photography and healing intersect and blend perfectly.
As a proud 6th generation Californian, I have a soulful connection to the mountains, forests and trees. I spend my free time doing photography, hiking, camping and seeking new adventures in the outdoors. I have been called “The Pine Cone Whisperer.” Yes, I love hugging trees, especially Giant Sequoias and all varieties of pine.
My mission is to educate and inspire others to go outdoors and connect with both nature and creativity to gain its many health benefits for the mind, body and soul.
